This field studies class was first taught during the summer of 2014, with Dr. Paul Marr as the lead instructor. Together we took a small group of students to northern Chile, beginning our journey in the coastal city of Iquique and making our way east into the Atacama Desert and finally up into the Andes. Along the way, we studied many themes, including:
- Mining history, geology & mineral resources
- Cultural and political history
- Indigenous cultures
- Water resources
We hope to offer this class again in the summer of 2016. Contact me if you are interested! In the meantime, browse some of our photos from the trip.
